Short Summary of Unit Origins/History
38 Signal Regiment38 Signal Regiment is the communications (signal) unit of the 38 Canadian Brigade Group, a Reserves Brigade in 3rd Canadian Division of the Canadian Army. It was formed in 2011 by amalgamating 734 Communication Squadron, 735 Communication Regiment, 736 Communication Squadron and 737 Communication Squadron.
734 (Regina) Communication Squadron734 Communication Squadron was formed by the redesignation of 2nd Independent Signal Squadron effective 1 April 1970.
735 (Winnipeg) Communication Regiment735 Communication Regiment traces it’s roots back to the formation of the Signaling Corps (Militia) and the 10th District Signals Battalion which was reorganized and placed under command of Lieutenant-Colonel J.C. Franklin, MC (Bar) in December 1921. It is from this date that the Regiment of today traces its origin.
736 (Thunder Bay) Communication Squadron The roots of 736 Communication Squadron lay with No. 3 Company of the10th Divisional Signals, Canadian Corps of signals, Military District No. 10, which was based at the Park Avenue Armoury, Port Arthur.
737 (Saskatoon) Communication SquadronOn November 1st, 1975, 737 (Saskatoon) Communication Squadron was officially created as a detachment of 734 (Regina) Communication Squadron.
